Perry’s Official Book ready for preorders

Henry Loves Hills, Perry’s official book written by Perry native Patrick E. Brennan, can be preordered now for delivery later this year. The book is a tale of a school bus named Henry who travels the rolling hills of the scenic Perry area, safely delivering children to school and home. Henry, driven by Ed, confronts and overcomes his biggest challenge during a raging January snow storm, inspired by the Blizzard of 1977. Sally Snowplow helps out.

Brennan’s story was selected as the community’s official book as part of a competition orchestrated by Read Around Perry (RAP) with support from the Town of Perry’s Bicentennial Committee. Brennan, who graduated from Perry Central School, based Henry Loves Hills on his own experience of a bus ride during the infamous blizzard. RAP is a Rotary-initiated community literacy program.

Dan Butler, a Village of Perry resident, is illustrating Henry Loves Hills. He was selected to illustrate the story by RAP’s executive board. Butler was the 2015 featured artist for this year’s Perry Chalk Art Festival held on July 11.

Secure your copy of the 32-page Henry Loves Hills by ordering it at Burlingham Books in Perry. It can also be accessed at the RAP website: readaroundperry.weebly.com. The cost is $17.99 plus tax.
